DIY Director Competition

Ever wished you could re-write the ending to Sleeping Beauty? Think your family could make a brilliant new version of Toy Story? Well get the cameras rolling because we want you to remake your favourite family films for us!

Use your phone, camcorder or camera; animate it, use puppets or cast your family and friends; remake a whole film or just your favourite scene - it's up to you!

Your films will be judged by a super-star panel of judges, including Garth Jennings, director and writer of Son of Rambow. (Son of Rambow is about two young boys who try to film a new version of Rambo. It is based on Garth's own childhood experiences, so he knows alot about re-making your favourite films!)

The top three films to be shown on the big screen at the opening night of the festival in August! These films will also be available to watch online during right here on the film festival website. The overall winner will be decided by the festival audience, who will casting their votes for their favourite film throughout the 10 days of the festival. The three films will then be screened again at our closing night event when the winner will be announced and awarded their prizes...

The First Prize is a month of free outings for the winning family - including tickets for a family of 4 to see the BFG at the Palace Theatre, followed by a night at Manchester’s Radisson Edwardian Hotel!*

*The Radisson Edwardian prize consists of two interconnecting Deluxe rooms. BFG is on show at the Palace Theatre 25 – 29 August 2009 – tickets will be allocated in the best available seats at the time of confirmation and the group must include at least one adult and one child.
