How do we make our film?

NB - Remember to check out our rules and regulations and the copyright checklist before you start to make sure your film doesn’t break any copyright! Link to these resources

Filmmaking Software

However you decide to make your film, you will probably need to use some movie-making software.
If you have a PC with Windows XP it will have Windows Movie Maker software and you can use this to edit your film.
If you have a Mac computer it should have iLife software already on it which has iMovie as its film editing programme.

I Can Animate is a brilliant package if you want to make stop motion films and animations. You can download the software for a free 5 day trial here: http://www.kudlian.net/products/icananimate/download/*

Planning and making your film

Before you start filming, you will need have an idea of what you want your film to be about, and how you want to film it – live action, stop motion animation, a montage of photos with a soundtrack over the top... there are all kinds of ways you can tell your story.

Then you need to plan how you are going to film your movie (pre-production), actually shoot the movie (production), then edit it together and add any fancy bits like music, sound effects and titles and credits (post production). We have lots of free guides that you can download to help you!

You will need Adobe PDF reader to open our guides.
