Archive Day: The Red Shoes (U)

Stockport Plaza

3 Aug 2010

Check out the charms of one of the country’s oldest cinemas with our fabulous retro screenings for Archive Day at Stockport Plaza! Each film will be preceded by a musical intro from the Plaza’s organist.

A Technicolor masterpiece based on Hans Christian Andersen's tale of magic ballet slippers who won’t let their wearer stop dancing. The Red Shoes tells the story of a gifted young ballerina whose rise to fame is threatened by her romance with a gifted young composer, and who must choose between her heart and her art.

With dazzling choreography and stunning dancing that will leave anyone who has ever attempted a pirouette gobsmacked, The Red Shoes can kick the living heck out of most action films.

*Content warning: A very emotional (and potentially disturbing) ending - bring tissues!*
